Our assortment of Planerknives is wide. We have most of the steel for all the planer machines. Material we offer is Hicrom (HLS/Cr), HSS 6% (High-speed steel) and HM (hard metal).
Hicrom is an “softer” quality. HSS 6% (High-speed steel) which is the common quality we selling most off. Advantage with HSS is that you don´t need to grind and sharpen your knives as often as Hicrom.
Of course, this depend on what plane you use and how rough. The best quality is HM (hard metal). This steel is provided with a hard metal plate on the knife’s chest side. This quality used especially when you work with rougher wood.
